Friends of
Oakland University

Welcome to the Friends of Oakland University website. Here you can get information about the Friends of OU, a segregated fund from the University, run by volunteers who care about the future of OU.

Candidates in open primary seats for the Michigan House and Senate often incur considerable debt just to get elected and are under significant pressure to continually raise campaign funds after they take office. Many of them are supporters of Oakland University. Each year, the University receives over $52 million in state funding. The university also receives significant state funds for new building construction such as the School of Education and Human Services (Pawley Hall); the Science &Engineering Building; Business & Information Technology Building (Elliott Hall) and the recently agreed to Human Health Building. Campaign finance laws prohibit us from using university resources and general operating funds for campaign contributions. Therefore, the best way for us to show our appreciation for those elected officials who have been supportive of OU, higher education and related issues, is by attending fund raisers and making contributions to their political and caucus committees.

This is where you can help. Contribute to the Friends of OU and support Michigan legislators who support OU.
